2. OH&S Policy

At Mac Group, the OH&S of employees is our prime concern and an important business objective. We are conscious of our responsibility to create, maintain and ensure safe work practices, reduce safety hazards, and promote safe work practices for sustainable development. We are committed to:

  • Preventing industrial risks and their adverse impact on employees.
  • Following safe work practices and continually improving the effectiveness of the system.
  • Eliminating hazards and reducing OH&S risks using hazard identification and risk assessment exercises.
  • Conserving natural resources by using them responsibly and efficiently in all our operations.
  • Complying with all applicable legal and any other requirements, and take additional measures as considered necessary.
  • Implementing and propagating the OH&S Policy through proper communication, active involvement and participation of employees and people working for and on behalf of the organisation.
  • Preserving the health and safety of the site and its neighbourhood.
  • Making this policy available to the public.


Management responsibilities are to:

  • Establish and review HSE objectives and targets.
  • Develop and execute procedures guaranteeing safety.
  • Monitor and continually evaluate any risks identified.
  • Provide appropriate PPE and training.
  • Communicate this policy and encourage behaviour that upholds this policy.
  • Assist employees with work-related injuries.
  • Include HSE performance in the appraisal of employees.

An employee’s responsibilities are to:

  • Ensure their own personal health and safety, and that of others in the workplace.
  • Fulfil the reasonable directions (such as safe work procedures, wearing personal protective equipment) given by management for health and safety.

We expect visitors and contractors to follow the health and safety requirements of Mac Group and the main contractors.

3. Environmental Policy

At the Mac Group, we are committed to sustainability and industry best practice in environmental performance. Protecting the environment is the responsibility of
every employee in the organisation. Mac Group is committed to sustainable
construction and to minimising any adverse impact on the environment resulting
from our business activities.

To deliver this commitment, we will:

  • Manage environmental risks and, wherever practicable, eliminate the potential for adverse environmental impacts.
  • Minimise potential or actual effects using considered methods.
  • Confirm effects using continual monitoring and improve anticipated outcomes by adopting controls and methods for continuous improvement.
  • Regularly review and report on our environmental performance.
  • Develop an open and transparent working relationship with regulatory authorities.
  • Observe Accidental Discovery Protocols.
  • Comply with all consent conditions and relevant environmental legislation, regulations, standards, and codes of practice.
  • Promote environmental awareness across all our organisation’s functions.

4. Purchase Policy

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that all purchasing decisions made by Mac Group Ltd and Mac Environmental Ltd aligns with our commitment to environmental sustainability, minimize environmental harm, and support a circular economy within our demolition, asbestos removal and maintenance operations.

Mac Group commits to the following principles in purchasing:

Sustainable Sourcing

  • Prefer products that are made from recycled, reclaimed, or sustainably sourced materials.

  • Avoid products containing hazardous or environmentally harmful substances.

  • Prioritize suppliers who demonstrate environmental responsibility and compliance with environmental laws.

Durability and Lifecycle

  • Choose products and equipment with longer life spans, lower maintenance needs, and end-of-life recycling options.

  • Evaluate the environmental impact of products over their entire lifecycle, including manufacturing, use, and disposal.

    Energy and Water Efficiency

  • Procure energy- and water-efficient tools, appliances, and equipment.

  • Choose machinery that meets emissions standards.

Waste Reduction

  • Avoid single-use products where reusable alternatives exist.

  • Support purchasing in bulk to minimize packaging waste.

  • Choose materials and services that generate less waste during demolition and construction phases.

Local and Ethical Procurement

  • Give preference to local suppliers and manufacturers to reduce transportation emissions.

5. Drug and Alcohol Policy

All Mac Group staff working on every project will undergo the following testing:

  • Mandatory alcohol testing each morning prior to starting work. This will be supervised, undertaken and documented by the Site Supervisor.

  • Random drug & alcohol testing in accordance with the Mac Group Integrated Management System.

  • Post incident & post-accident testing in accordance with the Mac Group Integrated Management System.

  • No drinking and driving is permitted on company vehicles under any circumstances.

  • No smoking or vaping is permitted inside the vehicle.

6. Labour Hire Policy

  • Any sub-contractor who providing labour hire services must undergo Mac Group’s Sub contractor prequalification process.
  • Site safe certificates of the labour hire workers shall be obtained from the labour hire provider before commencing any work.
  • All labour hire workers must attend pre-start meetings, toolbox meetings and other necessary site meetings.
  • Mac Group supervisor should explain the SSSP and other site related hazards to the labour hire workers before commencing work.
  • All labour hire workers working on any Mac Group sites shall undergo client/Mac Group induction.
  • All labour hire workers working on any Mac Group sites shall be trained for that particular task by the supervisor and a training report shall be completed by the supervisor before allocating any task.
  • Once the training has been completed, the supervisor should fill in a task allocation form which should clearly specify the tasks which the labour hire worker is doing.
  • Labour hire worker shall report any accident, incidents or near misses to supervisor immediately.
  • Post incident & post-accident drug testing will be conducted to the workers in accordance with the Mac Group Integrated Management System.
  • Random drug and alcohol testing will be conducted by Mac Group time to time.

7. Vehicle Policy

This policy is developed to run a smooth operation for all Mac Group vehicles. It is the Project Manager and the driver’s responsibility to keep up to date with any legislative or industry changes and best practice procedures. These changes will be communicated through toolbox meeting, pre-start meetings, monthly staff meetings, etc.

  • The employee may be provided with a vehicle for work purpose only and it cannot be used for personal travel unless approved by the project manager prior to use.
  • The vehicle must be parked at the Mac Group yard or at the driver’s personal address when not in use.
  • Employees has no entitlement to any particular vehicle, or type of vehicle. The employer can change the vehicle at any time.
  • The employer will pay all maintenance and running costs of the vehicle.
  • The employee will promptly pay any parking or traffic fines incur while they are using the vehicle.
  • The employee must have a valid driver licence of the relevant class.
  • The employee must follow the employer’s vehicle policy.
  • The employee must comply with all relevant traffic laws.
  • The employer can decide to stop providing the vehicle if it is no longer needed for the employee’s duties or if it has been misused, e.g. repeatedly breaking traffic laws or vehicle use policies.
  • Speeding – All Mac Group trucks are GPS equipped and the speed is monitored all the time.
  • The max speed limit for all the Mac Group trucks is 90km/hr.
  • Any employee/drivers exceed the speed limit will be provided with a warning letter and repeatedly speeding will result in vehicle driving ban.
  • Seatbelt must be worn all time while travelling on a Mac Group vehicle, this includes driver and all the passengers.
  • Using cell phones while driving is prohibited on Mac Group vehicles.
  • Drivers are allowed to use RT radios to communicate with site while entering the site.
  • Playing loud music in Mac Group vehicles is prohibited.
  • Using headphones while driving is prohibited.
  • Drugs and alcohol – No drinking and driving is permitted on company vehicles under any circumstances.

  • It is driver’s responsibility to keep the vehicle clean and tidy all the time.
  • The vehicles must be washed weekly at the yard (car wash, tyre shine, etc will be provided by employer).
  • Interior and exterior of the vehicles must be cleaned weekly.
  • F-MS33 Vehicle Truck Inspection Checklist must be completed every week for all the vehicles.
  • It is driver’s responsibility to report any damages or fault within the vehicle.
  • It is driver’s responsibility to check WOF, COF, REGO, RUC, etc. and notify management.
  • The truck must be empty while bring it back to yard once the work for the day is completed.
  • It is driver’s responsibility to grease and spray WD40 on the hydraulic pistons daily.
  • It is driver’s duty to check levels of radiator fluids, windscreen washer fluids, engine oil, transmission oil, ad blue, etc. every morning before starting the vehicle.
  • All drivers must be respectful to other drivers and pedestrians.
  • It is driver’s responsibility to make sure trucks are not overloaded.
  • It is driver’s responsibility to make sure safety net are on before exiting the site.
  • Always use a spotter for reversing truck on site.
  • It is driver’s responsibility to maintain the first aid kit on their vehicle.
  • Every drivers must complete the log book every day.
